Brief History of Jarral Rajputs
Jarrals - descendants of the Rajas belonging to the Lunar race.

Brief History (BC)

Early BC - established the city of Hashtana Pur which is located 80 miles from Delhi on the banks of river Ganga. Now in ruins due to flooding.

Raja Naka Shena - Kalanaur (The Jarral Capital) - (AD)

Kalanaur in the district of Gurdaspur was later (AD) established as a capital by the early Jarral - Raja Naka brother of Raja Jamneyji. During this time Jarrals used the surfix 'Shena' meaning lion. Kalanaur later captured by the Ghauri Empire after a fearsome battle with the hindu Jarrals.

Acceptance to Islam - 1187

Acceptance to Islam in 1187 during Shahab-Ud-Din-Ghauri. The ruler of Kalanaur - Raja Saheb Shena was re-named Sher Afgan Khan & his son Raja Neil Singh - Noor-Ud-Din Khan. Persian being the official language of the muslim Jarrals. Later, the Hindu Rajputs of the state of India outcasted the Jarrals.

Muslim Jarral Rule - Rajouri (650 Years)

Noor-Ud-Din Khan and Jarral muslim army attacked Rajouri city in Kashmir and captured it in 1194. Jarral's established Rajouri's 1st muslim rule which lasted 650 years.

During this period the Jarral Dynasty, they enjoyed a revenue of Rs3Lakh per annum. They also were very kind and fair to other casts and religious sects. Many Hindu's were employed in senior position to serve the Jarral rulers and recieved rewards.

The fall of Jarral Dynesty to Dogra Rajputs (Rajouri)

1846, under the terms of 'The Treaty of Amritsar' the Dogra Rajput Maharaja Gulab Singh bought the whole Kashmir from the British.
Jarrals refused to work with the Dogras and fought many battles against the Dogra Army creating a hevok. Dogras then seeked British help and the Dynasty came to an end. The ruling Jarral family exiled and moved to Wazirabad in Punjab by the British. These Jarrals also developed some big personalities in Pakistan throughout the years that followed.

The Zaildari Nazaam - Rajouri (100 years)

Some Jarrals remained behind in Rajouri and served the Dogras as Zaildars which lasted a further 100 years of Zaildari nazaam till 1947. These families later migrated to Azad Kashmir and some parts of Punjab. They have ranked well with the Kashmiri people and include some prominent personalties in Amry, Local Government, Judicial system & Pak & Kashmir Politics.

Fall of Dogras in Gilgit by a Jarral (1947)

Nov - 1947, Col. Hassan Khan Jarral who was then Company Commander - revolted against the ruling Gogras and captured Gilgit with a small team of Muslim Rajputs and locals. he also arrested the Governer 'Brigadier Ghansara Singh' and appointed Raja Raees Khan as President of the Republic.
